PLEASE ANTICIPATE 5-6 MONTH DELAY BETWEEN BOOKING YOUR PIECE AND DELIVERY.    YES- WE ARE VERY, VERY BUSY.

Commissioning is more than “special ordering” a piece of furniture. A commission is an opportunity for a client to hire the service that includes conceptualizing, designing and building a truly one-of-a-kind piece of furniture.

Typically, the process navigates the following sequence between Robert and a client:

CONSULTATION: We meet to discuss the project in as much detail as the client cares to offer including functional particulars, budget, material preferences and aesthetic direction.

BRIEF: I distill this meeting into a document of point-form notes and often a thumbnail sketch.

RETAINER: If the brief is agreeable, a modest retainer is transacted. This retainer secures the piece into the upcoming production schedule.

DESIGN: Beginning with thumbnail sketches, proposed designs are forwarded for client consideration/input. Every project varies in its complexity, the ease with which a design can be arrived at and the number of revisions requested.

ESTIMATE: As the design takes shape, costs can be attributed to labour and materials and an estimate is offered as soon as is possible.

FINAL PROPOSAL: Pending a client’s choices from the estimate, a final proposal is drafted. This includes a binding quote, schedule and renderings.

PRODUCTION: Studio visits are encouraged during construction.
